Summary

We offer a number of scholarships for our Faculty of Engineering applicants joining postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses in academic year 2024/25.

All self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying offer holders with strong academic qualifications are encouraged to apply. Please note - you must hold an offer to a full-time postgraduate taught degree course starting in January 2025 before your scholarship application will be considered. If applying for postgraduate research course you must start during the 2024/25 academic year.

If you're applying for a postgraduate taught degree course, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 15% reduction of your fees, which will typically be up to £4,240.*

If you're applying for a postgraduate research degree course, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 15% reduction of your fees for each year of study. Postgraduate research degree applicants can apply year round for the scholarships.

*If you are studying a two-year MSc course, you will receive a 15% scholarship for your first year only. The amount varies for selected courses with a different tuition fee, including courses within Architecture & Biomedical Engineering.

Eligibility

Postgraduate Taught

To be considered for the Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship applicants should have a 2:1 (or equivalent) in their undergraduate degree.

Important things to note:

  • The value of the postgraduate taught scholarship award is equivalent to a 15% reduction of your fees for your first year of study. This is typically up to £4,240.

  • If you are studying a two-year MSc course, you will receive a 15% scholarship for your first year only.

  • The amount varies for selected courses with a different fee, including courses within Architecture and Civil and Environmental Engineering and Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering.

  • Applicants awarded the scholarship and studying an 18-month MSc course will receive a scholarship typically equating to £4,240. 

  • If you're applying for postgraduate research degree course, you'll receive a scholarship award equivalent to a 15% reduction of your fees for each year of study.

  • The Faculty of Engineering’s International Scholarships are only open for self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying applicants enrolling on a full-time course within the University of Strathclyde’s campus in Glasgow. Those who receive full sponsorship from a government office or embassy are not eligible to apply.

  • Applications are now being accepted and completed application forms should be submitted as early as possible.

  • In order to be considered for a scholarship an applicant must hold an offer to study a full-time course in the 2024/25 academic year.

  • The deadline for applicants applying to study a postgraduate taught course in January 2025 is 10 January 2025.

  • Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.

  • Students who do not meet any of the required criteria in this announcement will automatically not be considered.

  • The Faculty of Engineering's decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.

Postgraduate taught applicants only:

  • Postgraduate taught applicants who wish to be considered for the Dean’s International Excellence Award have to apply no later than 22 November 2024. Following this deadline, those candidates who have been selected to receive this scholarship will be notified by email in due course.

  • Those candidates who are selected for the Dean’s International Excellence Award will normally be required to pay their deposit within 3 weeks of notification to remain eligible for the scholarship.

  • After 22 November 2024, postgraduate taught applicants may still apply to receive a Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship (value: 15% of fee) only.

Postgraduate Taught

Applicants for postgraduate taught degrees will receive a scholarship equivalent to a 15% reduction of their fees, with a typical fee reduction of up to £4,240.* The deadline for applications for the Dean’s International Excellence Award is 22 November 2024, and candidates will only be considered for the Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship (value: 15% of fees) after this date.Applicants only need to submit a single application to be considered for both scholarships. 

Postgraduate Research

Successful full-time PhD students will receive a scholarship equivalent to a 15% reduction of their fees for each year of study. Applications can be made year-round from postgraduate research applicants.* The value of the postgraduate taught scholarship award is equivalent to a 15% reduction of your fees for your first year of study. This is typically £4,240 for courses with a tuition fee of £24,450. The amount varies for selected courses with a different tuition fee, including courses within Architecture and Biomedical Engineering.
