Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The programme makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses at UK universities.

The award

Chevening scholarships are open to applicants from over 160 countries and territories around the world, looking to study an eligible one year taught master’s degree at a UK institution. To apply for a Chevening scholarship you must have:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.

  • Commit to returning to your home country for at least two years after your scholarship ends.

  • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.

  • Hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master's programme.

  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by the deadline listed on the application timeline.
